What’s last quarter growth like around the Country? (as per core logic property update for Sept)

  • Sydney           0.3% + (13% + for the year)
  • Melbourne      1.9% + (12.7% + for the year)
  • Canberra        0.4% + (8% + for the year)
  • Perth               1.6%  – (2.8% – for the year)
  • Hobart             1.9% + (13.6% + for the year
  • Brisbane          0.2% + (3% + for the year)

While each City has its own story, Brisbane job growth and interstate migration is on the march forward which is always a precurser for capital growth.

When we break down the overall dwelling value numbers we see a significant difference between the House and Apartment market.
The Darwin market is a great example of the importance of getting the product right where we have seen unit prices drop by 18% since 2014 yet house prices have been slightly positive.
Why is that?
